Hometown: Woodstock, Maryland

Competition Host(s): Harford County Chamber of Commerce and Maryland Chamber Foundation

Essay Topic: Cybersecurity

Aayush S. is passionate about using technology to strengthen communities and help address challenges in the digital world. For his National Civics Bee® essay, he explored cybersecurity, highlighting the importance of protecting individuals, organizations, and public institutions from online threats. His essay demonstrated how everyone can play a role in creating safer digital spaces and promoting awareness about cybersecurity best practices.

A fan of mathematics, Aayush enjoys tackling complex problems and developing analytical thinking skills. His favorite historical figure is Abraham Lincoln, whose leadership helped guide the nation through one of its most challenging periods. He also looks up to Neil Armstrong, the first person to walk on the moon, whose determination and spirit of exploration continue to inspire generations.

When he’s not studying or exploring civic issues, Aayush enjoys reading books and following the fast-paced world of Formula 1 racing. Whether he’s diving into a new book or keeping up with the latest race, he enjoys opportunities to learn, think critically, and explore new ideas.

Looking ahead, Aayush hopes to become a Computer and Information Research Scientist, a career that would allow him to combine his interests in mathematics, technology, and innovation to solve complex problems and advance the future of computing.

When it’s time to enjoy a favorite meal, Aayush chooses barbecue, a classic favorite.

The National Civics Bee celebrates students like Aayush who are using their curiosity, innovation, and civic engagement to make a positive impact in both their communities and the digital world. We are proud to recognize him as a Maryland State Finalist.
