Essay Topic: Food Insecurity

Ella H. is passionate about helping ensure that everyone has access to healthy, nutritious food. For her National Civics Bee® essay, she focused on food insecurity, exploring ways communities can work together to support individuals and families facing hunger and improve access to essential resources.

When she’s not thinking about solutions to community challenges, Ella enjoys expressing her creativity through music. She plays the electric guitar, a hobby that allows her to combine dedication, skill, and a love of performance.

A fan of social studies, Ella’s favorite historical figure is Paul Revere, known for his role in the American Revolution and his commitment to serving his community. Her biggest inspiration is her older brother, whose support and example motivate her to work hard and pursue her goals.

Looking ahead, Ella hopes to become a dietitian, combining her interest in health and nutrition with a desire to help others live healthier lives. Her career goal aligns closely with her passion for addressing food insecurity and promoting community well-being.

When she’s not studying, playing music, or exploring civic issues, Ella enjoys staying active through flag football and eating one of her favorite meals: steak and potatoes.

The National Civics Bee celebrates students like Ella who are using their voices, ideas, and leadership to address important issues in their communities. We are proud to recognize her as a Georgia State Finalist.
