Essay Topic: E-Bike Safety

Selah G. is passionate about helping keep her community safe while encouraging responsible use of new forms of transportation. For her National Civics Bee® essay, she focused on e-bike safety, exploring ways communities can educate riders, promote safe practices, and reduce accidents on roads and trails.
When she’s not thinking about solutions to community challenges, Selah enjoys spending time with a good book, particularly the classics. She also appreciates music and has a unique hobby: collecting and listening to vinyl records, which allows her to connect with artists and albums in a timeless way.
A fan of philosophy, Selah’s favorite historical figure is James Madison, one of the architects of the U.S. Constitution and a strong advocate for representative government. She also admires Stevie Nicks, whose creativity, individuality, and musical influence have inspired generations of fans.
Looking ahead, Selah hopes to become a trial lawyer, combining her love of learning, critical thinking, and effective communication to advocate for others and make a positive impact.
When she’s not reading, listening to records, or exploring civic issues, Selah enjoys one of her favorite comfort foods: traditional British cuisine.
The National Civics Bee celebrates students like Selah who are using their voices, ideas, and leadership to strengthen their communities. We are proud to recognize her as a Texas State Finalist.
